Apple veröffentlicht OS X 10.8.2 Build 12C50: Letzte Beta vor der finalen Veröffentlichung?

Registrierten Entwicklern hat Apple heute einmal mehr eine weitere Vorabversion des kommenden Updates für OS X 10.8 „Mountain Lion“ zur Verfügung gestellt. Die Build 12C50 von 10.8.2 bringt unter anderem die Integration von Facebook, Verbesserungen für Game Center sowie eine Vielzahl Verbesserungen. Da Apple erstmals während des Installationsprozesses unter „Wichtigen Informationen“ sämtliche Neuerungen listet, kann mit einer baldigen Fertigstellung des Updates gerechnet werden.

Mit dem neuen iPhone wird Apple heute Abend einmal mehr die neuen iOS-6-Features Revue passieren lassen, darunter auch die neue Bord- und Kundenkartenverwaltung Passbook. Laut Apples Update-Beschreibung sollen sich genau diese Tickets künftig aber auch unter OS X mit Mail oder Safari abrufen lassen um diese anschließend auf das iPhone oder den iPod touch zu übertragen. Wie die Übertragung funktioniert, verrät Apple hingegen nicht. Aller Wahrscheinlichkeit nach wird Cupertino aber auch in diesem Fall auf die Synchronisation per iCloud setzen.

Des weiteren nimmt OS X 10.8.2 sämtliche MacBook-Air-Modelle aus dem Jahr 2010 in die Liste der mit Power Nap kompatiblen Geräte auf. Apples iChat-Nachfolger iMessage kann künftig ebenfalls die mit iCloud registrierte Telefonnummer verwenden, Gleiches gilt für FaceTime. Weitere Sprache, darunter Spanisch und Italienisch für die Diktierfunktion, kleine Verbesserungen für die Mitteilungszentrale und mehr runden das Update ab. Obwohl Apple bereits auf einen Support-Artikel verlinkt, ist dieser noch nicht online verfügbar.

  • Facebook friends are included in Game Center friend recommendations
  • Facebook Like button for games
  • Challenge friends to beat your score or achievement

Other new features

  • Power Nap support for MacBook Air (Late 2010)
  • iMessages sent to your phone number now appear in Messages on your Mac
  • From Safari and Mail on your Mac you can add passes to Passbook on your iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 6
  • New shared Reminders lists
  • FaceTime now receives calls sent to your phone number
  • New sort options allow you to sort notes by title, the date you edited them, and when you created them
  • Dictation now supports Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, Korean, Canadian English, Canadian French, and Italian
  • The Dictionary application now includes a French definition dictionary
  • Sina Weibo profile photos can now be added to Contacts

The 10.8.2 update also includes general operating system fixes that improve the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac, including the following fixes:

  • An option to discard the changes in the original document when choosing Save As
  • Unsent drafts are opened automatically when launching Mail
  • Receive Twitter notifications for mentions and replies from anyone
  • URLs are shortened when sending tweets from Notification Center
  • Notifications are disabled when AirPlay Mirroring is being used
  • SSL support for Google searches from the Smart Search Field in Safari
  • New preference to have Safari launch with previously open webpages
